Electric ride on reverse no forward

My kid has a ride on yesterday it stopped going forward but reverse still works, the car can be controlled by the driver or from a parent remote control and from both it wont go fwd, the dash has fwd / reverse button for driver. Most things online say replace the fwd / reverse switch but does the fact it won't go fwd on the remote control either rule the drivers switch out? If I go into reverse on the remote the drivers switch has never moved so it seems to bi-pass that switch and the control unit deals with it may be? I tried removing the manual fwd/ reverse switch and fitting it upside down but still didn't work no fwd. I checked the connections on control unit / mother board seemed OK. At moment I'm thinking the mother board / control unit is the issue as issue happens both on remote control and the in car button ? I can get new control unit from aliexpress.com but it's a month wait.
