When I became a Dad 6 years ago i started reminiscing about using my Dad's old Boomerang and Monster Beetle when I was little, so I bought re-releases of both of them and built them up. Now my boy is showing an interest and have let him have a go but they get smashed in to everything in the garden. Is there a way of speed limiting the cars to make them abit safer/less likely to get broken?

You could get an ESC that limits the amount of throttle, or a radio that restricts it too.
If you’ve got a trigger type TX you could physically limit the trigger movement with a tie wrap or something similar behind it.
Stick in a slower motor, change the pinion.
There’s various ways really, it depends on how much you want to slow it down, and how easy you want to revert it back to normal

OK as I can remember when both the boomerang and the Monster beetle where 1st released, there used to a slower speed motor a 380, instead of the 540, I believe which was fitted to the grasshopper at the time.
If could get one that may be the easiest way to slow it down

They’re 10 a penny on eBay, it’s also worth joining Tamiya groups on fb, lots of knowledge and spares/hopups for sale
