Next model- a 1911 Nieuport.
Discussion
Wheels? Aluminium tube, with a couple of aluminium discs at the end.
The rim is a length of 0.5 mm aluminium, scored into a v shape, 0.4 mm holes drilled for spokes, then bent into a hoop and scarf jointed with cyano.
Stick it in a jig, and thread spokes one side, using 2 lb nylon fishing line, turn over and repeat. I have 24 spokes; threaded through the rim 4 forwards, 2 back. Takes ages!
Tyre is blue foam, painted.
Also takes ages.
Leaf spring is carbon fibre for main leaf, 0,4 mm ply leaves.

Nearly there- just the dummy engine to make. I need another 3 or 4 grammes up front to get the CG right anyway.
Weight so far 45 grammes.
The engine will take a while- exposed pushrods, rockers, valve springs, etc. I have made a couple of punches to produce the cylinder fins.
Great modelling. How are you making the engine? Punched card for the cylinders?Weight so far 45 grammes.
