500 mm span, for micro R/C gear out of a Trainstar RTF model- includes gyro stabiliser.
Ready for the tissue and dope.
Wheels are homemade; wing spars 1,5 mm diameter carbon fibre tube.

Another pic- I seem to only be able to post one at a time.[url]
Should finish up around 50 grammes.

Nice bit of balsa work. The wheels look great - how did you make them? Is that a leaf spring connecting them?

Wheels? Aluminium tube, with a couple of aluminium discs at the end.
The rim is a length of 0.5 mm aluminium, scored into a v shape, 0.4 mm holes drilled for spokes, then bent into a hoop and scarf jointed with cyano.
Stick it in a jig, and thread spokes one side, using 2 lb nylon fishing line, turn over and repeat. I have 24 spokes; threaded through the rim 4 forwards, 2 back. Takes ages!
Tyre is blue foam, painted.
Also takes ages.
Leaf spring is carbon fibre for main leaf, 0,4 mm ply leaves.

Edits don't seem to register, although noted- weird?
Anyway, the was a high level of reject bits before I got a satisfactory set of wheels- see pic.
At 81, I'm a bit out of practice!

Thanks - that’s some impressive scratch-building. The result is the only thing that matters.

Now all the control links are in, I can finish covering the fuselage. The elevators have working 'cables', which needed a bellcrank.
Having to paint in stages- just a waft of rattlecan red over red Jap tissue.

Nearly there- just the dummy engine to make. I need another 3 or 4 grammes up front to get the CG right anyway.
Weight so far 45 grammes.
The engine will take a while- exposed pushrods, rockers, valve springs, etc. I have made a couple of punches to produce the cylinder fins.

Great modelling. How are you making the engine? Punched card for the cylinders?

Lovely! To pick just one element those superb wheels show the effort paying off. Great skill.

One down, one to go.
Will be fiddly painting, but not half as fiddly making.
My 81 year old eyes are not as keen as they wuz, and the old fingers seem to shake a bit!

Finished- weighs 52 grammes.
There are a few things I would improve if I built another....
