£25,000 for a plastic model?!
Discussion
Ok, what am I missing?! Is it that rare, is it the last one?

Edit: In the time it took me to write that, some bids were apparently deleted but it’s still over £6000!

I might have this wrong but would it be a way for two people to launder dodgy money?
Make the item rediculously expensive so only the 'right' person buys it, legitimized via EBAY and PAYPAL.
how do they get the dirty money in the bank to paypal it over in the first place?Make the item rediculously expensive so only the 'right' person buys it, legitimized via EBAY and PAYPAL.
Well this guy thought it was ok.

The eBay auction does appear to be the only one on sale at the moment (although I only spent a few minutes looking), a few places say “available on back order from supplier” but we know what that really means…. All looks legit too, seller has loads of similar stock

The postmaster at my local post office deals in model kits, bigger business than his post office tbf, I pointed this out to him, he was not aware it was a rare kit. He has orders from all over the world, even one guy in Dubai who bought another flat to house his models in, so there are some proper crazies out there.
Something doesn’t seem right - I could kind of understand if it was a rare model and the tooling had be lost, but I don’t think that’s the case? Also, what happens to its value if it gets re-released? Seems like a huge risk for a kit that doesn’t even look that detailed for the scale.

I presume it is someone who wants to build it - possibly for someone who used to fly them.
Paying that is too much risk for a speculator.
Built models usually go for peanuts considering the hours put in. I guess if you got a gullible customer, custom request and a builder who is good at talking you might get into the thousands, but nearly £8k + building? Paying that is too much risk for a speculator.
I acquired an old Revell Hurricane Mk1 kit from an associate to try and build up with my 4yr old but neither he nor I are blessed with much interest in such things nor much patience either. Somewhat amazed that somebody would pay several thousand quid for a plastic kit but each to their own however.
