Just collected this box of goodies from Armortek
And yes it really is a 1/6th scale all metal Tiger 1, heres the gun barrel and the mantlet with a 12 inch ruler for scale
Its going to take a long time to build and I've still got to get the bits to make it mobile and radio controlled!

Excellent, if you haven't been yet do try to attend the factory open day, you'll see loads of completed running models and everyone is very helpful. There is a good owners forum run by Armortek too if you need any advice.
I've got a Panzer 4 done out in the enigma that is Panzer Lehr 333.

I couldn't make the recent open day unfortunately I had stuff to do, but I'm very lucky as work about a thirty minute drive from them.
As I'm also self employed and work on my own fixing cars I have a nice workshop to build it in, although I've never built one and my last experience of radio control was in about the nineties with a two channel car!
I have joined their forum but not actually posted on it yet, although I did meet Monique this morning when I picked it up and had a nice chat.

If you have any problems with the radio control aspect Adrian who lives in Reading is the go to man, he sorted out a real pain for me me when I inadvertently blew my electrics/sound card, nice to know there are some very helpful well informed guys on the forum. There is so much to absorb if you are into that sort of thing, when they resume the exhibits/shows at The Tank Museum Bovington it is well worth going to see the Armortek display. As I'm also self employed and work on my own fixing cars I have a nice workshop to build it in, although I've never built one and my last experience of radio control was in about the nineties with a two channel car!

Just a couple of photos of my model, It has two Churchill animated figures (expensive but very good) on it to add to the realism/anorak type detail one tends to get involved in.
That looks amazing!
Mine is suspect will be nothing like as good, mainly as I just going to make it out of the box or boxes so to speak
I do have a particular tank in mind though and in the spirit of research have ordered a film from amazon, although its not actually a real tiger in the film! I will post a picture of the film when it shows and see if you lot can guess what tiger I'm doing!

That's what most people say to start off, then you get hooked, you should see some the owners tanks they put mine to shame in terms of detail and accuracy honestly, they are great fun too. I sculpted my garden to look a bit like Tellytubby land when when daughter was young so have many hours driving the tank up slopes and letting the main gun blast quite loudly neighbours seem to like it too and they do seem to attract the attention of the kid in most of us.Mine is suspect will be nothing like as good, mainly as I just going to make it out of the box or boxes so to speak

Kelly's Heroes?Thought you might enjoy this Tiger, the guy has done a superb in both the model making and the filming soundtrack's good too. It's what inspired me to buy two Churchill Creations animatronic figures for my tank.

Just be aware that the Tigers in Kelly's Hero's are mock ups based on Russian T34 tanks,
Totally different suspension, the turret is also far too forward.
At that stage of the war it also should not be grey.
Should still be a great project
Hey, knock it off with the negative waves! It's gonna be beautiful.Totally different suspension, the turret is also far too forward.

The thing is though the Armortek models are deadly accurate to the very smallest detail. I bought mine already made and it was a steep learning curve if you go down the road of displaying your model, particularly when you get invited to show it at the Tank Museum at Bovington, which is well worth attending as it's free to Armortek owners.
For instance my Panzer 4 H has a very clever modulated/proportional smoke unit fitted to it, but it didn't work properly with the design of the H type exhaust so the guy fitted a type J exhaust. Blissful in my ignorance only to have a chap come up to me and say 'you know that's the wrong exhaust for a type H it's a type J' I was taken aback a bit at first but being a polite affable kind of guy said nothing and took it onboard. He was right of course.
This was one of the reasons I changed mine to be the enigma that is Panzer Lehr 333, there is news film footage of it blasting down the road in Northern France very late on in the war, but nobody knows if it was filmed just for propaganda purposes as the numbers 333 seem to draw a blank so I'm happy in the fact that it could be virtually anything. But the film shows my model more or less exactly as I have made it today.
