FTX Carnage 2.0 vs Maverick Quantum MT
Discussion
Hi all, Don't suppose anyone can help? I'm after an RC car that I can use with my 7 year old son. I've not had one (other than his toys) for over 20 years since I had a Tamiya Thunder Dragon. I don't want to build it so want ready to run. Don't really want to spend much more than £100. He wants a truck so the Carnage and Quantum MT look pretty good. Anything cheaper seems to be smaller in size and I think I want something biggish. The Quantum is £20ish more expensive. Anyone got any experience of either models or brands? Can you recommend either? Also want to be able to charge it as quickly as possible; any recommendations for a cheap fast charger?
Thanks

Hi, we've got a maverick quantum xt (the truggy). It seems fairly good for a beginner. I'm starting to get bored of the standard responsiveness though so bought an HPI esc and motor to match my HPI jump shot mt. Now it's much more interesting. I also removed the prop shaft and front drive shafts so it's now RWD and does drifts on loose surfaces.
I also recently bought an absima sand buggy with a 15t standard motor. As fast as the maverick with it's now 12t motor and a lot lighter. It might be worth looking at the absima range on modelsport. I've been really impressed with both, but would buy another absima but probably not another maverick if that makes sense.
That said I prefer the hpi to both. Unfortunately it's around £200, but it's been bulletproof apart from throwing off it's steering arms on tarmac recently. For all the cars I use an overlander NX20 charger, overlander 3300 batteries (the stock 2000 one with the maverick is crap). The charger takes 3-4 hours.
