Starting a die-cast collection. What scale?
Discussion
I have decided to start a collection of die-cast cars to match my car ownership history. I know not every car will be available in the colour and exact model I owned but I can repaint where necessary.
I have about 20 cars I would like to find and don’t mind taking my time to find them. I don’t want the highest quality models available as I want to keep the cost down to about £30 per car.
Any advice on what scale to go for? Is there a particular scale where I am more likely to find the models I need?

£30 should be enough for most 1/43 but some rarities can easily exceed that on popular auction site .
1/18 can go well over £100 for the rare stuff .
I've paid anything between £1 and well over £70 1/18 can go well over £100 for the rare stuff .
I think the average for mine was probably £50, but quite a few aren't mainstream.

Excellent. As a matter of interest what will your first purchase be?
Unfortunately I have hit my first hurdle trying to find my first car. A mk2 Fiesta (not an XR2). Cant find one in stock anywhere. My 2nd car a mk3 Capri should be easier.sandman77 said:

Was it an XR2 you had? If I can find a diecast XR2 we could swap?Gassing Station | Scale Models | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
