My Dad died on February & we’ve spent the weekend clearing through his stuff & sorting the house out, ready to sell.

My Dad & I used to love Mamod steam engines when I was a child & I thought that our traction engine & miniature steam workshop had been chucked out many years ago.

Imagine my delight yesterday at finding them stuffed away in the corner of one of his sheds!

They’re looking a bit worse for wear, but definitely salvageable, with no parts seized up & pretty much every part present & correct.

These will be a nice little restoration project. I’ll probably start with the traction engine as my grandsons will love it.

Lazy not Googling I know, but I presume you can still get spares for these, like drive belts etc?

Great find.

Mamod themselves do most spares. Otherwise there plenty on Ebay.

I'm looking for a roof for a steam wagon I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

Cool find, my dad is currently still with us but not for long i fear he's now in hospital. This is his engine that is now in my ownership and I've literally just taken this photo. My dad he passed his love of steam and mechanical stuff to me good luck restoring it.

Yes deffo.
I got the boy a te3a traction engine (minus roof) off the bay, was fun working together on it to get it running and polish it up a bit (still no garage queen), spares on ebay easy to get.
