Where to buy scale crash helmets?

Hi,
I don't usually frequent these parts but hopefully someone will have some ideas?

I'm looking to buy some cheap scale crash helmets to paint or own designs on. Any ideas? I'm thinking 1/2 scale? Something still quite large

It is for my young son to paint up. The cheaper the better ideally. He is getting very into colouring his own F1 themes and this would be the next stage.

I suppose helmets already painted would be fine if they are cheap enough as I could prime them for him.

The only 1/2 scale helmets I’ve seen are replicas rather than unpainted and are rather expensive. The best price I could find was £65 for a damaged one. You can get full sized ones for less than that!

Unless space is a problem I’d look on Amazon, or for old helmets, Ebay. I saw a full face helmet for £25 in Aldi.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately space is a problem. I've seen the cheap full size ones. I'm happy to look at smaller scales as well. I've seen painted 1/5 scales ones for about £40 but this is still too much really.

Have a search on Alibaba for something like "replica race helmet" & there are a number of hits for cheap helmets that you wouldn't want to wear walking down the street let alone race in but might do for painting:

Just watch out for minimum order quantities & shipping can sometimes be an issue.

There’s plenty of race circuits that cycle through helmets they use for punters on experience days, might it be worth contacting them for a 1:1? They normally just chuck them in the bin.

Sadly I need 1/2 scale or a little smaller. Full size is not possible. I'm looking at a few possibilities on Alibaba.

If I find anything I'll post up back on here.
