Hello

My first post here so please bare with me if the pictures don't load correctly or I mess anything else up.

I have just finished by Harm SX-3 1/5 scale RC car and just thought i'd share the story and some pics with you.
,
I have always had a love of anything RC car related from as long back as I can remember and due to some unfortunate circumstances towards the end of last year I happened to come into a little bit of money that i could treat myself to something with.

I had always fancied a 1/5 scale RC car so I got busy searching online on the normal platforms Ebay Wallapop etc.

Found a Harm 1/5 scale SX-3 second hand that was in fantastic condition and the guy selling it was pretty local to me so decided to try and do a deal, a bit of back and forth and a price was agreed.

So here it is on the day i collected it

So now I needed to start work on finishing the bodyshell, I decided to paint it with Tamiya PS-23 gunmetal grey paint. I also started searching online for some Mercedes Decals, I had no idea how difficult these were going to be to find, only place I could find any was on Ebay from Singapore. The price of them was stupidly expensive for some stickers but I knew If I wanted the car to look as good as possible I had to have them.

So I got on with the jobs in hand

So with the bodyshell all painted the car is starting to come together, the white mismatched wheels though are starting to drive me crazy and the car really needs a spoiler. So off shopping again, now I could of opted for a cheap plastic spoiler but really felt the car deserved more so opted for the Carbon & alloy version.

How the cars sits now

Car is now nearly finished just a couple of small things I still want to do.

Hope you enjoy the pics thanks for looking.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks for your comments.

Will certainly upload a few videos when I have it running, Just need to find a space big enough and flat enough to give it a proper run.

That looks amazing. So, how fast can it go, and how quickly can it stop with those funky brakes? Do the brakes operate when you come off the throttle, or do you have to apply them?

How fast will it go, i guess it will be somewhere around 45mph,

How quickly will it stop not sure but judging by how strong the brakes are pretty quickly I imagine, they are hydraulic brakes and the front is separate from the rear so it has a separate servo controlling both, these are then mixed via the controller to work on the same channel, you can then setup the brake bias as you wish so like 70 % to the rear 30% to the front.

Will the brakes operate when you come off throttle, i'm sure you can probably set it up in such a way but I will be aiming to have it just free roll when I come off throttle.

This is my first rc car of this scale so I'm learning as I go

Thanks for the info. I went to have a look at the manufacturers website. Pricey bits of kit! Had a look at some racing videos on the tube. They certainly shift, and you could see they slowed very quickly.

Yes brand new and the latest model they are not cheap, but second hand there are deals to be had, i brought this for 600 euros including the new body engine and all the servos so I only had to buy the transmitter.

But since then i have spent another 300 euros on paint decals spoiler wheels etc.

They become a bit of an addiction I warn you.

That’s an impressive bit of kit!

Is it petrol or nitro? What cc is the engine?

Prodigious first post OP. Worth waiting for!

That looks like a brilliant bit of kit. I have always very much liked the idea of 1/5 scale RC, and particularly the buggies, but the reality of family life means time is to big a constraint at the moment...

LOL yes i was surprised when i went to register today and it already knew my email address, mind you in 2008 i was a bit wild so to say.

I too also have a family and totally understand where you are coming from, i just happened to come into a little bit of money last year which enabled me to spend a little on me for a change and this is the result.
