I’ve recently started collecting 1/43 F1 models and would ideally like to display them in the house. I’m not too keen on displaying them in their cases so would ideally like a shelf or cabinet, but looking online there doesn’t seem to be much.

Can I see how people are displaying their 1/43 models?

£20 spent on an ex-shop display at a local auction. Tidied it up, added an LED strip light in the “roof” and now displays a few Dinkys...

I find that one on each arm works well.

If you go down the display cabinet route there is some stuff available on eBay - including the popular "Atlas Editions" display case which has 15 compartments suitable for 1:43 models - its cheap at about £15 but very uninspiring.

Top tip - head to "Easy Live Auctions" and type "display shelf/cabinet" into the search engine - you'll find anything that is coming up in the near future at any registered UK auction house. You can bid live and most auction houses will arrange p&p at reasonable rates if the auction is not local to you.

This is another ex-auction jewellery cabinet adapted to represent a period Dinky display :

Ikea Detolf cabinets seem very popular with various genres of model makers / collectors.

For 1:43 scale cars Ikea Bertby cabinets are ideal. Though discontinued, they appear on Ebay from time to time.

Are they the ones from Amazon? I've been looking at them but wasn't sure if they were going to be deep enough.

Diecast displays almost sorted by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

I use a random assortment of old china cabinets for the majority of mine. The taller one on the right came down to me from my grandparents, I remember it from when I was young. I added thicker toughened glass shelves to both of the ones in the bottom shot, and I need to add a shelf or two in the one I use for my 1:24/25 kits.

I don't think either of the two I purchased cost me much more than £10 apiece from the local auctions.

I had an acrylic display case made to size to hold my little collection of some of the real cars i have worked on from 1971-83 (couple of Brabham's excluded but represent the year of another car)

1969 was a bugger for model collectors. High wing & low wing variants.

I didn't have the 81 when i took this and i still haven't managed to get a 1978. I try to stick to cars with the correct tobacco livery on so it makes them harder to find or horrendously expensive.

Excellent collection. Hard to tell from the photo, but 1/43?
