Pocher Lotus 72
Discussion
I just spotted this on Facebook from Jadlam. Open to pre-order, just shy of £600.
It says it's due for release in Q4 2021 though, and placing a pre-order means paying for it straight away.
Just wondering if this is correct?
I quite fancy getting one, but not keen on paying now and waiting 9 months for delivery, or am I reading it wrong?

Pocher are a mixture of diecast and plastic. Most if not all parts are pre painted or moulded in the right colours. Mainly screw together. This kit should have over 1000 pieces- they are similar to the part work models you get in monthly instalments, but actually work out cheaper than those and you don't have to wait ages for all the bits.
I've built an Aventador and a Ducati, they took me about 2-3 weeks of evenings working 2-3 hours each night. Hopefully I'll get to make a Lotus too!

Yes it's too much for me to spend on a static model too, but I don't think they are bad value for what you get. Can say the same about most things though- I spent several times that on a new bike last year when I could have got something for £150 from Halfords to do basically the same job. Or a £9k Dacia will get you from A to B same as a £100k S-class.
As above, the Pocher kits can be built straight from the box with no painting or glueing, and you get a nicely detailed and very big model.
Plenty of scope for super-detailing if you want. Some of the models have good aftermarket detail kits available. I built a Pocher F40 years ago, and I've got another on the shelf, together with an Autograph detail set which cost more than the base model. It comes with a complete set of photoetch to replace all the subframes and a set of OZ centrelock wheels.
I've also got the Ducati waiting to be built, along with an upgraded fastener set (proper scale bolts, etc.).
I got lucky with a Modelspace 1:8 McLaren at £259. It's a Kyosho model, originally sold as a partwork. This will be my next build.
Oh, and I've got a Pocher Alfa Romeo that I built when I was 15 (48 years ago), but messed up the paint by using Humbrol enamel aerosols. It's been in bits for 30 years, waiting for a repaint

I do like Pocher, first lock down gave me the chance to refurb a red Testarossa and black F40 I had. They are easy to assemble and with the right transkit and paint they look awesome.
