Not sure how many of you out there do this, are doing this or have already done this.
I have started to build a collection of diecast cars reflecting my own personal car history.
Simple you say. Well, no.

I had never realised just how difficult it is to find a diecast version of some of the cars I've had. And I'm not talking about strange exotica either. It's the run of the mill bog standard stuff that has sat alongside my more performance oriented cars that are the real hard ones to find. And if I want the same colour as my car, sometimes impossible. I'm not talking about super detailed 1:18 size either, as the sheer number of cars would make the display and storage difficult at this scale, more the 1:43 sizes (cars are about 4 inches long)

Bare in mind I am not willing to pay HUGE sums (many hundreds in some cases) for a model, only tens at best.

So, not to bore you with all my cars, but here are some examples of cannot finds, anywhere

BMW E46 Sport Touting - does not exist. At least I cant find it!!
BMW E39 M5
Peugeot 306 in green
MG ZT-T

So, how have you all found this if you've done it? Are there any sites / resources I haven't found that you found useful?

I haven't owned many cars, but I also did what you are doing.

Managed to bag myself one of these at a fairly good price: http://www.theoldtoyguide.com/2014/12/08/autoart-m...

Also found this for my current Extreme: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:AN...

Finally, got one of these: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3f/81/77/3f81773af4...

Only missing a Peugeot 106 and a Mk3 Golf Gti.

I'm not sure I'd want models of a Reliant Regal, Vauxhall Cavalier or Datsun Sunny.

HAHA that's what I thought about my Peugeot and Golf, but I'd still quite like them

I want to do this, and was going to start a thread asking for recommended places to buy/look for rarer models. I've 'only' had 8 cars [I think] so should be doable. Not sure how easy it'll be finding a yellow JDM DC2 Integra or grey 1989 E30 BMW 325i Motorsport cab?!

Think I got a couple of mine from Ebay, and the Red Evo from a lot of Googling and finding a random US site selling one.

I've done just this! eBay is the best bet and try the Italian / German & French eBay sites directly as these seem to be the countries with the most models.
I've managed to get the majority of my history, although had to compromise on colours on a couple.
Rare stuff can be expensive!
I paid 100euro for a 5 GT turbo in red although it's identical to the one I had.
The TVR chimaera was a kit that I had to build and paint.
I've around 15 1/43 models now...can get expensive!!

I've done this in 1/43

Some are just the nearest thing.

I couldn't find a Viva HC, so this is close

The 1/43 Ranger isn't exactly stock hehe

And my SX4 wasn't this racy

But the vast majority of the rest are spot on, some even in the right colour!

Oh wow, so they do exist! Mine was dark blue, but exactly that! Paint it and sell it to me? haha

Haha, my old man has a Griffith, so I spotted that shape of the backend. Cerbera I don't know too well, apart from the fact I always thought it looked rather like a Chimera from the front.

Don't blame you

I just had a look, and the Corvette one I bought cost me £100 about 18 months ago.....it's now £175!?!
