I'm running out of space in my display cabinets, so I've been thinking about what my options are.

I've got quite a few 1/43 cars, a big collection of F40s ranging from 1/8 down to 1/87, plus a couple of dozen Burago 1/18.
I've got 3 1/8 cars to build, plus a 1/4 Pocher Ducati. Nowhere to put them them.

I had an idea to look for a suitable coffee table combined with a display cabinet - glass top and sides, fairly modern-looking base/legs.
Found a couple online, but they were £2k+, which is a lot more than I want to spend

Any ideas? Needs to be around 4' x 2', and dustproof.

One of my clients has exactly this – with model aircraft in their case, so such an article is obviously out there. No idea what they paid, although knowing them it wouldn't have been a huge amount.

This is the only one I can find on Wayfair:

Probably not deep enough for a 1/4 motorbike, and the rubbed metal finish doesn't look nice.

There are quite a few with glass tops and glass shelves, but they don't appear to have any sides to keep the dust out.

That looks ideal for 1/43 cars, but the drawer isn't deep enough for bigger models

Yes, it's looking like I'll have to adapt something with open sides and a shelf

A thing popped up on my facebook, where a guy made a resin coffee table with a load of hot wheels model cars embedded in the resin, looked great.

I mentioned this to my sister today, and she had a good idea - coffee table fish tank. I had no idea this was a thing.

I like John's channel too - knows how to fly a RC glider and has the right spot on his doorstep.

Couple of my display coffee tables, run LED lights under the lip. The cases are genuine ordnance crates.

Are the LED lights battery powered, or have you got a cable running under the rug?

That's exactly the one, if you are in Surrey I do have a spare AT-3 missile still sealed in factory crate if you need one.
The LED's are plugged into the mains but I sometimes run them from a battery if I'm at a show or something outdoors.

Tempting! I’m actually in Cumbria, and about to stretch myself with the new house, at least until we get it the way we want it, but it’s definitely on ‘the list’. Showed the Mrs your picture, and yay, she really likes it!

For 1/43 scale models.

£15 at a local auction. A bit of TLC and it houses a group of Dinky 23 models :

I need one too. I have a millennium falcon which is 800mm x 600mm x 200mm.

Just need to learn how to do some dovetail joints and then I'd make one. Mirrored bottom and glass sides and top ideally.
