I have been looking around for a long time for a decent action figure that I can use with my 1:10 scale RC vehicles. Most of the figures on the market are mass produced and just don't have the level of realism that I'm looking for. Even the more expensive figures have plastic moulded clothes, poorly sculptured faces, plastic or painted-on hair, etc. They are also usually fantasy figures that are difficult to use in everyday scenarios.

RC4WD made an attempt at an action figure for RC vehicle and scale garage applications with Rick/Mike/Cutter but the oversize poorly fitting clothes look rather ridiculous and the visible joints are also a bit disappointing.

Luckily, I just found a brand new figure from a specialist company called VERYCOOL, based in Hong Kong. This figure named "Villa" is a new ultra-realistic action figure and has features such a sculptured head, simulated hair and properly fitting, highly realistic clothing. The figure is described as 1:12 scale but the dimensions mean that she can easily fit in 1:10 scale scenes too (e.g. scale garage or as RC driver figure). She has a fully articulating body enabling her to pose in many realistic ways. She comes with accessories such as a miniature backpack and also a weapon.

Slightly creepy - but not as creepy as the Eagle Eyed Action Man.

Bit weird to be buying toys like that. Do they not sell male dolls?

Scale RC crawlers are big business right now and every truck deserves a driver figure or else the scale realism is just not complete. Equally, there is growing interest in scale garage scenes and a plastic mass-market wrestling figure or superhero often just isn't realistic enough to be taken seriously. The choice of ultra-realistic action figures is actually very limited at the moment. If you want a male figure you have the rather disappointing RC4WD Rick/Mike/Cutter with his hugely oversized baggy clothes and visible joints. That is why I chose to buy this "Villa" figure as my designated RC driver.

You are probably referring to the rather politically incorrectly named figure "Campus Gun Girl". She is also produced by VERYCOOL and would probably work very well in a scale garage scene with a display of RC Japanese drift cars.

It's all a bit weird though for an adult to be playing with these action figures.

You seem to be quite up to speed on these lady dolls.

I have to admit, I sometimes put figures with my 1/72 scale aircraft models - but they all look like Biggles or Adolf Galland.

I've recently got into RC boats. Some of these just don't look right without a "driver" - open cockpit scale pleasure craft for example.

Finding suitable figures can be really tricky, especially as boats come in a huge range of different scales. I've built a few in the past year, scales have been 1/16, 1/14, 1/10 and 1/8. Most of the toy figures look ridiculous, especially the ill-fitting clothes.

You think you have problems getting decent figures at 1:10 scale. Try getting a decent figure at 1:3 scale!

I'm never happy about figures that use real hair and real fabrics - they don't look right to me, as well as appearing disturbingly doll-like.
