Are they any good? I like the look of this
https://howesmodels.co.uk/product/heng-long-1-16th...

I'm not interested in kits, ideally something good to go straight out of the box and as robust as possible.

Any other suggestions?

This looks even better.

Mixed opinion.

We started selling some (Henglong and Torro) but have since stopped as we had a lot of issues with reliability and quality control - I have currently got 10x £400 metal bodied Torro Tanks sitting in my office that need checking as they've been returned with faults.

When I confronted the brands I was told we had been unlucky and they are normally solid and reliable - but Im not sure and removed from sale. The tanks are finished pretty well and the metal body versions are very solid and powerful. Although the electronics side (including Transmitter, battery & charger) is typical generic cheap stuff - which is a shame considering these items cost £200-500.

I had a play with one of the metal bodied tanks and there is no denying it was cool - chasing the dog around whilst firing BB's at her was good - but I did get bored pretty quick and havent got any others out since.

I think you could have more fun spending £250 on a decent RC buggy - but depends what you're after.

Thanks, food for thought. Typical Chinese build quality then.

Yea well my experiences haven't been great - but they appear to be popular. Id just be a bit disappointed (and many of my customers have been) when spending £300+

Cheers.

It was fun shooting the dog and the shins of my warehouse staff, so Id guess cats could also go on that list!!

My neighbour has a couple cats (that wind our dog up) - maybe I have my solution. Challenger 2 with metal BB's and we're sorted...

It'd be great to mount a camera on the tank so you get a driver's view.
