Having had a few over the years, and still have my beloved Lunchbox, could anyone throw some light onto re releases...
Specifically, I've just bought a grasshopper, as I'm in quarantine for a week, and have a Brat coming at Christmas....but I'd like to add a nova fox, a wild one and a boomerang, for reasons of pure nostalgia--they will likely never be used, just built.
Does anyone know if these are available from secret source, or likely to be rereleased... I keep seeing ads for the fox on eBay, but noted as out of stock, and having ordered one and been prepared to wait, I'm now told they arent available....
I don't want an old one ready built, and would rather not shell out for an old, in built one, so if anyone knows, it would be massively appreciated.
I realise that there's a load of info online, but from what I've seen it's either years out of date or contradictory.

Cheers.

You have to be quite quick with the re-releases as, unsurprisingly, you're not the only one with these nostalgic urges! With the models you list up until the current "unpleasantness" they were still around but due to so many people "working from home" the stock of both re-release and current-model Tamiya kits diminished rapidly. Now your best bet is to scour eBay Worldwide or search the Far East shops.

Kyosho have re-issued some of their classics too by the way.

A good site to keep up with Tamiya news is

https://tamiyablog.com/

who watch the scene worldwide.

How weird, earlier I emailed my Dad to ask if he'd refurbished his original Sand Scorcher and Rough Rider for his grandkids/my niece and nephew, as he said he wanted to not that long ago, and now I see this thread.

Would anyone know where to get parts for the above two models? It'd be great to get them working again. I imagine almost everything will need replacing, even the tyres have disintegrated.

Thanks.

Thanks for that, greatly appreciated.
I guess it's just a case of keep searching....
Just finished the grasshopper, and while I know it's the bog standard, entry level kit, I just wanted one for the shelf. Likely never turn a wheel.

Due to the ongoing re-release of these two all parts are readily available. The only thing you'll struggle with is the 'Scorcher body (it's different on the re-release) and exact decals (again, different) but good reprints are available. For all mechanical parts try Modelsport or Fusion Hobbies, but cheaper (if you want to buy a few things at once) is to go to the Far East such as Stella Models or RCMart. Good European suppliers include Tamico and Modelbau Seidel.

The eBay traders mentioned are very good too.

Should have stopped reading this, just looked at rcmart and bought a pajero.
