Having just got my Dads Arcttic Star, it makes his others look a bit shabby

My son has a cleaner but is unsure of the best medium to clean the medals

Any suggestions?

I am going to get replacement ribbons but keep the original safe

I’d have thought the appropriate metal polish would be more effective? Depends on the specific material though.

Well this site reckons they use just warm water & detergent:

There's lots of discussion here:

I'm not sure how an ultrasonic cleaner would remove tarnish as it's a chemical process but it should shift any dirt.

I wouldn’t bother with one unless your going to find a lot of use for it. I’ve got a “James products ultra 2000s”. It would do the job. Going back to basics drop a 2 pence coin in a glass of full fat Coca Cola overnight and see the results in the morning, it will make you wonder how is it safe for drinking.

Coke (& many other fizzy drinks) are just slightly acidic, which is what cleans the tarnish off. It's the same with ketchup.
