I found this while perusing the IWM Duxford website (The September airshow is cancelled this weekend, but I quite fancy a visit before the next lockdown). Get one while you can folks...

Who the fk stood up in the meeting and said "Yep, that's a beauty. Ideal candidate for IWM branding"

I, for one, am stunned (possibly not in a good way).

I note it's shown as being suitable for "14+" too.

It's a good job it says "Supermarine Spitfire" on the box, otherwise I doubt I'd have known.

Wonder if they've sold [m]any.

It barely resembles an aeroplane, never mind a Spitfire.

I think I’d have been quite proud to have made that (when I was about 5)

Amazingly, if you look at the images in the link, they don’t look like the box image - in fact it’s even worse because whichever end you take to be the nose, there’s no tail fin:

Oh no.

How can someone come up with this stuff and present it to potential customers with a straight face?

That's a Hurricane flying beside the Lancaster - not a Spitfire.

But it probably wouldn't make much difference to whoever designed those "kits".

Looks like a Chinese clone of the "proper" Meccano Spitfire, which is a slight improvement:

I remember seeing a similarly bad "lego" Red Arrows Hawk on sale at Cosford about 18 months ago.

I bet the model was made up, then dropped/bent before it got to the photographer, who just did the pictures as it came, then the web editor had no idea what it was meant to be either so didn't question it.

That one looks more like a Curtis P-40

I do quite like the Lanc, it's like a cute stubby little caricature but still recognisable as a Lanc.

The Spit is just a total abortion though.

The Sherman looks a bit (And I mean a bit) like a Stuart.

Has society really fallen that far - or did you photoshop it?
