I bought a Sport Cub S 2 RTF with SAFE RC Plane about 6 weeks ago. It has been a great bit of kit. However I took it out with the kids to fly yesterday and things went a bit odd. Plane started to ‘jump about’ and the panic button mode wouldn’t rectify the flight profile and when pressed it just beeped and didn’t do anything. This has not happened before and usually stabilises the plane and makes it climb a little. Result being a ground impact with catastrophic damage to the nose and wings.

I don’t want to start replacing the damaged bits until I know what’s gone on with the panic mode.

Anyone have one of these and had the beeping without correction before?

I don't have the same craft but I do use spektrum receivers with as3x and SAFE although I don't use them but they are very reliable generally......... unless there is a large WiFi installation nearby or dodgy Chinese wifi booster - have you flown from the same location previously with no odd flight behaviour?

Have you powered it up and performed any range tests etc since the crash?

Has it got wet/damp - I say this as sometimes the covers can fall of the aileron servos under the wings (the small linear screw motors that move the pushrod) and they can twitch or flutter due to very slight corrosion caused by wet grass etc and the as3x gyro will go bonkers and stuff it into the ground....... ask me how I know

I have flown a lot of the eflite umx stuff not much has changed in the last few years bar the safe software, Google twitch and flutter in umx planes - if the servo is going bonkers I doubt safe will help much although I have no experience of safe.

If it is an interference issue - man maths says you need a spektrum transmitter with telemetry so it can tell you why you're looking at broken foam.

On that note - buy some zap foam safe kicker and some thick CA glue and use sellotape to reinforce and I am sure your cub will fly again without needing new parts, my carbon cub was basically laminated with the stuff and it flew fine.

Thanks for that!

Yes always flown at this location, it’s very quiet, has less than 20 houses within say a mile radius without problems.

It’s going back tomorrow so the manufacturer can have a look at it for me.

Such a shame as a cracking little plane for the kids to learn on.
