My SD1 collection - well someone has to...
Discussion
It’s a modest collection compared to some, and far from the most glamorous subject matter, but they are all MIB. There’s a real one (all original low mileage 1985 Vitesse) knocking around somewhere too!
I’ve seen some ‘interesting’ asking prices for examples of that Cowley family day one!
Any other one-make collections out there?

Some newer examples...lots of lovely detail but missing a bit of soul compared to the contemporary Dinky/Corgi, etc., which were obviously made to be played with. Not that they’re ever coming out of their boxes, of course...they’re not toys, for goodness sake!

Nice collection. You need to add the small corgi Triplex race car. You can see mine in the bottom row centre of this pic. It came in a box set of two matching cars, the small and large scale corgis together. I still have the larger one like yours but unlike the small mint one I have the large is very play worn.

I was admiring your collection. Good call on the corgi Triplex one - this is the first time I’ve “catalogued” what I already have (accumulated at random over a number of years) and I’d lost track of what’s ‘missing’. I realise I’ve duplicated one of the Vanguards ones (moonraker blue example). Time to add a couple of new searches on the Bay of Dreams...Looking at all of yours it's surprising how back in the late 70s and 80s when the real one was on sale, so few models were of the Vitesse , lots of base model 2600's. Seems only recently that collectors models have been made of the Vitesse.
Have always been a fan, my uncle bought a brand new brown 3500 in about 1980. Huge comfy tan leather seats are my biggest memory as a small child.

Absolutely superb, mouth-watering collection! No jealousy, but I admit to envy here!I’ve seen some ‘interesting’ asking prices for examples of that Cowley family day one!

In the mid-80s there was a company called, I believe, S & J Models, who made a really nice Vitesse in white metal, a bit pricey though (built only, no kits) so I didn't buy one. Can't get one at any price now of course.
I still look for an SD1 occasionally, but for me it would need to be a competition version.

Would like to know more about this one, a quick Google didn’t yield much.

I actually built one of those Heller kits - it was completed on June 6th, 1991 (I kept quite comprehensive records in those days; it was ref no 91/19!).
It was metallic red and I would have kept it, but a friend liked it so much that he persuaded me to sell it to him 3 months later. However my records also state that I photographed it, so if I find that (still using film in those days so it could be anywhere) I'll post it here.
ETA - the colour was called Jupiter Red, but I forget which manufacturer it was from.
