Young Porsche fan in the family, looking for a present, thinking of a nice model Porsche Carrera GT (best Porsche ever in my humble opinion, YMMV!)

I know nothing about model cars, any suggestions for getting a good one at not too crazy a price?

Depends on the age of your kid. My son is 3 and knows all the cars out there but prefers something he can move rather than a static object so need to think about that.

Wow! eek

https://store.porsche.com/gb/en/Lifestyle/Modelcar...

There must be a good reason why this is over £11,000, but I can't see it..!

Crikey, obviously a pricing error but how did someone think that wasn't mad? I suppose it is the Porsche accessories site biggrin

What sort of budget?
(I suspect the answer is obvious but I post both these for the lols...)

The Tamiya 1:12 scale Carrera GT kit is £413:99

Or a 1:24 scale one at £36:99

Are you thinking a model to build or ready made to display?

Sorry, wasn't clear enough, I'm looking for a completed model rather than an assembly project.

Pretty sure that Maisto do a Carrera GT in 1:18 scale; a range of colours too.
Not too expensive that it can't also be considered to be a toy to be played with, rather than something to put on display.
I reckon you could find something on ebay around the 30 quid mark.

You probably want the AutoArt version in 1/18 form.

Unlikely to find it new anywhere, eBay may be your best bet.

Cheaper option is Maisto.

Hi mate

1:18 scale is probably your best bet for a “nice” size, ready to display model.

Autoart and Minichamps are at the higher end of the scale, priced usually around the £100-£150 mark. They have adjustable spoilers, removable roof panels etc they do look good, there’s plenty threads online about comparisons between the two brands. I have a yellow Minichamps one and it’s great.

Other end of the scale is Maisto / Motormax. These do still make for good display pieces they’re just not as detailed, I have a grey and a red one I’d easily sell. They’re all without roof panels also. You can pick these up for around £20-£30
