So I made a start on the Spada build yesterday.

First a picture of what the finished model should look like.

The complex one way gears and combination of parallel shafts and drive belts is a nice piece of engineering.

I have found out that the printed manual I have is mostly Japanese text, luckily I found the English manual on line.

The two speed gear on this car is installed on the cross shaft.

Quite unique.

What a lovely thing! Looking forward to watching this progress and inspiring me to get an NT18 in one of mine!

I present you, the worlds cutest and tiniest drive dog bones.

I can’t tell you how many times I have almost lost them, they keep falling out when I am working on the other parts of the car.

More work on the front diff yesterday.

Then on to the back diff and output drives.

Those tiny ball bearings for the diff were really fiddly, especially as they came in a pack that had fine oil on them, they were trying to escape at every opportunity.

Thankfully I had a brainwave.

My favourite model tool kit, is my Losi 17 in 1 interchangeable bit set.

It has a large magnetic plate , to “ recharge “ the magnetism of the different bits.

I carefully dropped the ball bearings onto the plate, and they all behaved well staying stuck to each other so I could pick them up three at a time.

The rest of the rear drive shaft assembled.

It really is a fine piece of model engineering.

And finally the rear drive shaft and diff finished.

Servos are next, but I’ve got to do some real work today first, I have over 1000 photos to edit from a roof survey last Thursday,

I might run out of time today.

That looks like a lovely little model. Had no idea 1:12 nitro was a thing! Do you have somewhere to race it when it's done?

Hi Matt, we have access to a large car park at the estate where we work, so that’s ok for testing and mucking about.

But when it comes to racing, there are not that many clubs, so hopefully when all the restrictions are lifted I can take it over for Bedworth race track, as they run, or used to!, lots of IC car racing schedules there.

And yes to answer your question, I didn’t know 1/12 IC pan cars existed until I found this model on offer!

I will do my best to get some done today, but just realised as well as having to edit those 1000 photos, I also have to present to a nice Bunch of Russian Scientists on a Photonics and Laser project we are working on jointly.

I might run out of time today.

Not far! Think I'd have this over the electric Fantom to be fair - if you're being interesting with 4wd, might as well be interesting with ICE!
