De Agostini ford GT40 (1:8th scale)
Discussion
I just wondered if anyone else has subscribed to it?
I have, currently only 2 shipments have arrived and got notification from model space that the diecast 1:24 GT40 that as due in the 3rd shipment won't arrive until the 4th shipment due to this pandemic!
No photos to post as yet as I've left it all in the boxes and will wait until a few more shipments to arrive before starting on the project.
Linky for anyone unaware of what I'm talking about.
51cm long so going to be a very large model

Looks a lovely kit and it would do away with my Achilles heel which is the painting.
.......... I can’t justify spending that much.
I don't know what this will be like, but it won't be about £900 as the De Ag is.......... I can’t justify spending that much.
and it might not need painting.
It was originally due to ship in October, but who now knows when.

I considered the De Ag E-type when it appeared, but I felt that built straight out
of the box it could look a bit toy like and I'm not capable of scratch building the necessary bits
to improve it and make it look like something worth £1000 ish,
I note that the 911 has been reduced to £699.

I subscribed to the F40 at the beginning of the year. It's way too expensive, but since I collect F40 models, I had to have it.
It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the 1/8th Pocher F40 that I built years ago, and it might even prompt me to build the second Pocher that I've had sitting around (with a very expensive Autograph transkit) for a while. Oh, and the Pocher Ducati....
I'm hooked on building RC boats right now.

I'd have thought buying and building a Pocher would be far better than anything from De Ag anyway...It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the 1/8th Pocher F40 that I built years ago, and it might even prompt me to build the second Pocher that I've had sitting around (with a very expensive Autograph transkit) for a while. The Pocher F40 is actually quite a simple kit, with a lot of detail missing. That's why I picked up the Autograph transkit, which cost a fair bit more than the basic Pocher.
I've just had a look at how much these things sell for. The transkit is shown on the Autograph website for 1450 Euros, but is out of stock.
There's an unbuilt Pocher F40 kit on eBay for over £1000, which seems a bit optimistic.
Makes the partwork kits seem like relative bargains

Currently building the Eaglemoss ECTO-1, there's a thread on here somewhere
Yes I know its expensive, but I can't paint a decent gloss goat to save my life so like the Pocher Aventador that I built previously this saves me that problem. I quite enjoy doing detailed painting & weathering so doing that plus some small upgrades.
Also I can afford it without sacrificing anything else and it gives me something to do. Hobbies are not meant to be cost effective anyway.
