Can anybody give advice on how to remove painted on logos from a diecast model? i bought this model as a replica of my wife's white Jeep Renegade (i have a 1:43 of every car we have owned!) it is the only white 1:43 i can find and i was hoping the logos would be decals that would be easy to remove but they are not they are painted on.

I would like to return it to plain white removing the black bonnet, roof and door logos. the model was cheap enough that it is not a worry if i mess it up so i think it is worth a go.

The black is painted over the base white, can i just use a fine wet and dry to sand off the black layer the polish back the white? or is there an easy solvent i can use that would take off the top layer without damaging the base white?

Any ideas gratefully received

Nail varnish remover (the really stinky type) and a cotton bud as a first assault. Be gentle, take you time.

You always have the full repaint option as a backup.

I think it will be quicker and simpler to strip it down, strip the paint off and respray.

I have used nail varnish remover on cotton buds to remove the tampo printed livery from Corgi aircraft.

You need to take your time though, as rubbing too hard runs the risk of removing the paint underneath also.

Think outside the box, apply Juventus branding to your wife's jeep.

From one of the videos I watch on YouTube they recommend this for removing decals and bad paint

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Las-Totally-Awesome-Purpo...

Sold out there, but might be able to find elsewhere.

And this was the video where I guy used it to take off decals from his whole train coaches

Excellent advice, thanks!

It worked perfectly. i am really pleased with the result, all the undesired black paint removed with no damage to the white base. went as close as i dared on the bonnet/grille line without risking the black painted grille, not perfect but good enough for my little collection!
