Nigel forced us all to buy these in the "frivolous" thread...

https://www.t2shop.de/epages/61746328.mobile/en_GB...

So what plans do people have?

Presumably too small to power anything of reasonable size...

I am guessing mine may be destined for a 1/12th pan car but it will need a lot of custom parts! Might just go single piece chassis and rear pod for 'ease'. Might have to spark up some CAD.

However, if I use a standard 1/12 solid rear axle, I guess I'm mostly tied to 48/64dp gears... what pitch pinion does the NT18 clutch come with?

Could probably Google but since so many folks seem to have bought them, thought it would be nice to get a discussion and maybe project progress thread going!

Did I really force you all though wink

Seems a lot of people on the frivolous thread are going to make a desk ornament our of them!

The eshop guys must be wondering what's going on with these sudden orders from the UK biggrin
Or laughing, as they jacked up the postage smile Also guilty...
This turned up today

I don't recall ordering it but when it arrived, I knew to check in this thread first.

I own none of the other things to run it.

I've had one of these in an NT18 for years but it's been in a box for a long time. Surprisingly quick little engines.

When I link the page comes up in Arabic, but I’d prob try and chuck it into something like this

You could probably make something super basic yourself out of vac formed thin polycarbonate

Do you buy the exhaust to go with the engine?

Great idea to put it in a boat.

I suppose the only issue would be with cooling, but you could make a water cooled jacket out of 5MM curled copper tube i geuss.

And i know this is intended for a brushless electric motor, but this might be good enough to slip over the cooling fins.

https://www.banggood.com/Surpass-Hobby-36-S-Alumin...

Then perhaps use heat resistant epoxy glue to bond it to the head and transfer the heat from the engine to the jacket.

Liking the power boat idea a lot!

I bought a cheap, LiPo speed boat from eBay a few years back - proper little rocket and definitely cheap enough to hack about to test this.

What are those who are thinking of using them doing about clutches?

What coupling is on the output shaft?
I presume a gravity fuel feed will work and a spring throttle arm?

I think these engines look great. But in addition to needing a glowplug starter (~£10) how are folks considering starting these engines?

You need to spin the crank. If it's installed in an RC model car you can get a starter box that spins the wheels. But they are really expensive (like ~£100) and don't work for a freestanding engine or model boat.

All ideas welcomed - so I can get ordering!

I have a plan for mine, more of that when the other item arrives.

I’m also quite lucky in that I already have a starter box that I use for my 1/8 and 1/10 Nitro cars, and of course all the other starting gear and fuel etc.

But this should do as a starter.

I have decided what I'm going to do with my little engine, I'm going to make a nitro powered desk fan. It'll be noisy, smelly and incredibly dangerous so WIN. I have some lovely oak that i'll make a mount.

I remembered I have a very old Schumacher Nitro car circa 90's. Dragged it out and it's not in a good way. So'll pinch the tank from that. Have a muffler on order for 17 quid.. that's double what I paid for the engine.

I need some help please. I need a pull start and a prop I can mount to the output axle. I would welcome guidance on a glow plug battery pack and fuel please.

Will update this thread if anyone is interested

I was going to say I don’t think you will get a pull starter for and .18 size engine, but once again I would be wrong in my assumptions’

Seems you can get an .18 engine from wish with a pull starter!

?? Look what I found on Wish for a great price!

https://www.wish.com/share/1860lezmme

I know it’s £49 for the whole engine but some diging might find the pull starter on its own!

Good luck!
