Last time I built a plastic kit was some 25 years ago, but as I edge near to the big 40, I seem to be reverting to my inner child more and more, and am getting back to what I used to be in to.

I've done some research into starting tools and kit - I've an order coming with a lot stuff, most notably an Italeri Range Rover. I intend to get my first built done as something to give my Father-in-law who owned a classic RR for sometime and it was his favourite car. He'll appreciate whatever standard of the model I give him!

Where I want to heard is late 80s to mid 90s F1 cars (I always loved the back of the grid stuff, moreso than the posh cars..), and Group C to GT1 class Le Mans cars. Being born in 81, watching F1 with my Dad on Grandstand my first motorsport memory was the 99T Senna car, in his last year in a Lotus. After that, it became an obsession.

I digress! It seems if I want to do justice to some of the fantastic kits on offer, I need to look at airbrushes - which I know absolutely nothing about. So, PH; where do I start? Assuming I can buy a cheap one and end up buying a good one or just start at a good one? What is a good one? What size (0.2, 0.5 etc) is best to start with? Brands, costs, compressors? Help!

I'm a big fan of the Harder and Steenbeck range. Not massively expensive and beautifully engineered.

I bought one of these kits off eBay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132166170957

I only bought it because of the compressor as I'd got an airbrush already, and thought the two it came with would be junk, but they're actually ok as starter airbrushes.
