Has anyone built this kit, I’ve built the normal 1/35 Churchill and was fancying a Crocodile bit noticed Tamiya now do a 1/48 version
I’d be interested to know if anyone has any experience with their 1/48 AFV’s?

I’ve built a couple of their 1/48 scale kits as recently as last weekend. Whilst they weren’t tanks I think they would represent what to expect.

Really nice kits and relatively straightforward to build too.

I've done their Cromwell and doing the Matilda.
They are really nice kits, especially as they are all relatively new tools in Tamiya's own armour scale (I think).
Detailed and nice to build with Tamiya's quality thrown in. They do a really nice selection.
Their new T-55 is meant to be really nice. But from what I've seen, the whole range is great.
They dont break the bank and would build a nice collection. I'll definitely be doing more.
Here is my Cromwell. Excuse the quality it was a while ago and my first foray into weathering.

This should give you an idea of the detail.

They're really nice little kits. Often have a diecast chassis plate to add weight to the finished model although some people don't like this as sometimes it means that the underside detail is compromised. Lovely detailing otherwise although sometimes the tracks can be fiddly as they are the link and length type and need to be lined up very carefully.

Apparently its C Squadron 5th Royal Tank Regt, 22nd Armoured Brg, 7th Armoured Div.
Didnt they use the markings for ID? I'm no history expert.

They dropped the die cast lower hull quite a while back, they are flat pack plastic hull now with metal bars to add inside and put the heft back from dropping the die cast.

Blimey mate , that’s awesome. I think we all get too self critical but credit where credits due. Brilliant build.

22nd armoured Brg symbol was the Stag's head, 7th Armoured Div is the Jerboa (nickname of 7th armoured was the desert rats). Not sure about 5th RTR, maybe the 5 under the Stag? C squadron = yellow circle.
Allied star on top, for aircraft recognition.

Very nicely done model, would be great if 1:35 but 1:48 makes it even more impressive.

ALL allied vehicles used the "Allied" star...later they also used two coloured Air ID sheets, Orange one side, Yellow the other. Colour displayed depended on the "code" for the day.
The application of the Allied Star started during the combat operations in North Africa/Tunisia.
