Hi Guys

How can I safely remove chrome plating from plastic?

In the US they have 'super clean' purple degreaser that they seem to swear by but nothing I can find similar in the UK

Does anyone have any help on the matter?

Many thanks!

Sure .

Put the part you want stripping into a bag.

Add some neat bleach.

Wait a few hours and the part should be stripped (assuming this is a model part)

It has worked really well For me on a number of occasions.

You could try DOT 4 brake fluid, I use it for stripping paint off plastic parts.

Why? Normal bleach works fine.

Another shout for oven cleaner here, the cheap nasty pound shop stuff works best.

I generally use Mr Muscle oven cleaner, it works on paint too, but only rather than bleach as it’s usually what I have in the house. Just take care, the fumes are nasty
