1/32 initial D cars may be of interest to scalextric fans.
Discussion
I’ve been building a lot of smaller scale models of late and thought I’d try some cars.
I’ve tried a couple of the Airfix kits I the past and quite liked them. When I saw that Aoshima did some cars from the initial D series I bought some on eBay.
When they arrived I was disappointed as they are basically just shells with no interior detail at all.
I was hoping that a scalextric guy might be able let me know if these could be used as replacement bodies for those cars?
I’ll probably build them as they’ll be good practise for bodywork finishing. If they can be used as slot cars I might put them on eBay when done.

Having finished the 300SL I thought I’d have a look at one of the initial D kits.
I decided to start with the older of the two RX7s.
Simple is a bit of an understatement....
The first job was to go around the shell and remove the pronounced moulding lines.
Now that is ready for some colour. Time to look at the wheels.
A quick coat of gunmetal.
The tyres don’t even have any tread pattern, so I scuffed the slicks up a bit.
And that’s the current state of things.
The car is supposed to be white, but not being an initial D fan I have decided to go with something more interesting.
