Electric ride sometime won't reverse using pedal

Not sure were to post this but will try here.

We have a kids electric ride on land rover defender 4x4 24v. You can control it by the driver in the car or remote control, in the car is fwd and reverse rocker switch KCD4 if you put it in reverse sometimes it wont work when my kid uses the pedal however it always works from the remote, if I flick the rocker switch a few times it finally works from car. Anyone else had this problem / know what the problem is? I checked all connections and look ok, I've ordered replacement KCD4 rocker switch off Amazon only 6.99 for 5 so will try that.
