Love that! I saw a chap driving through Porto in a very similar one last September - just looked unbelievably cool.

Re. the doors... according to Lego's bumf the model is based on the 500F from the mid-sixties. This had doors with hinges at the front to replace the earlier 'suicide' type, so the model is correct. Have to wonder why they didn't choose to model the original 500 though.

Maybe Lego are concerned about NCAP testing
