I wonder what the point of it was? Seems a bit like a load of stock from a liquidated business rather than a collection that someone enjoyed owning.

Fair point, but inventory liquidations sometimes have gems.

Interesting collection. Seems to be very haphazard, like the guy just bought whatever caught his eye that day. You have everything from supermarket check out £3.00 novelties to £300+ special collectors editions.

Having had a quick look at the sellers eBay site, I would say that the bloke really hasn't got much of clue about what he has got and how to sell it. The most important thing he needs to realise is that collectors want the car and the box and unless he can match those up a lot of that stuff is almost worthless. He just seems to have bunged it all on his site without any rhyme or reason, all muddled up with his other stuff for sale (bad shirts and M1 Carbine manuals mainly.) so you to have wade through a load of ste to see what he actually has. And as he clearly just wants rid he hasn't put them up for sale in any kind of logic (all the Indycars together, all the F1s, all the rally cars, etc.)so you cant follow through to see what else might tempt you and your particular interest.

I can believe he paid $27000 for the lot. I don't believe he's already made $250000. I reckon if you contacted him with an offer of $80000 for all of it he'd bite your arm off. Its a lot of work for someone who doesn't know his stuff.

Spotted quite a few nice models I'd have been interested in.

It looked as though he was trying to match the boxes and models tbh. Even without boxes, the models are definitely not worthless, I'd probably suggest 50% value though. Depends on the model in question. I've bought models without boxes before (and saved ££) doing so. At the end of the day, I'm wanting to display the models in a cabinet so the box isn't too much of a bother. Items like the BMW Art Cars I wouldn't buy without the box, base and case.

Trying to inventory and sell all of those will take quite a while. TBH, I can think of worse ways to spend my day though. biggrin

If you don’t believe it you can check the eBay sold listings. I think it adds up.
