Anyone else getting a UGears model for Christmas? Daughter wants the safe:



Got the mechanical box last year from Jadlam toys.

I gave up on ugears. I built the tram and tramline and it was great. I then had the racing car and it was a nightmare. Loads of broken parts and ugears sent parts in a regular white envelope bent in half - so broken. They got funny about replacing again and sent a new full model kit with similarly damages sections and pieces and I have it up as a bad job at that point.

Shame as I like the concept but the fiddliness and delicacy of some of the parts is just ludicrous

I was given the racing car for my birthday on Sunday, I'm a bit wary of what I'll find when opening it now.

The mechanical box needed a bit of sanding, fettling and lubricating (candle wax), but tbh it's what I expected; laser-cut plywood isn't exactly the material of choice for mechanisms.

I'd have thought you could easily PVA any broken pieces back together, and once cured, sand any inconsistencies back to shape. I wouldn't give up on it because of a broken part.

We sell loads of them... great models. Very little issues....

That you know of. Tbf they are pretty cheap so most quibbles will either be forgiven or passed to the manufacturer rather than the retailer
