To add some super detail to a model I'm looking for tiny brass nut-effect thingies... ie a hex nut with just a bit of bolt showing in the middle. They need to be about 2mm across but I can't find such things. They'll be stuck onto brass sheet which I can't drill with that level of accuracy so an actual bolt isn't any use. Any ideas please?

Prime miniatures do very small brass fasteners (eg M0.6). You could superglue a nut to a bolt and saw the back off.

Have you looked on Mick Reeves website? https://www.mickreevesmodels.co.uk/

Mick's about 125 now and biggrin his website photos are well out of date but If you're anywhere near his place, it's well worth a visit. A collection of very old farm buildings and barns with lecky cables strung across the joists and creaky stairs with no handrails and stuff everywhere - a Health and;) Safety man's ideal place. Having said that Mick and his son Jim are top people and fantastic modellers and they have drawers full of interesting stuff including the smallest nuts, bolts and hinges you've ever seen.Worth a call but if they're busy they may not answer so leave a message

Thanks - I found Prime Miniatures but was hoping to find a ready-to-go stick on product.

I might drop a line to Mick Reeves too.

Another place I found was PlusModel - awful website but lots of stuff if you can find it: http://www.plusmodel.cz/karta_en.php?id=518 (not brass but I could spray them) - anyone used them?

If you need brass, this will be no good, but I've got a load of "nut and stud pins" from RB Motion in the 'States. About half way down this page:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Still need to drill pilot holes though. "Stick-on" items at that size might be more hassle than drilling holes.

If you get some magnifying glasses I found it helps enormously, but get the right ones...

Ah yes http://www.rbmotion.com/index.php?route=product/pr...

- but they need the end of a stud inside... Drilling holes won't work as I know I can't drill holes in brass (the substrate) with sufficient accuracy. The jury's out!

I meant these -

...which turns out they do in brass. You'd have to remove the locating tail. I can't see you getting anything closer to what you want off-the-shelf.

Or if you want the exposed bit threaded, get some of these:

https://www.prime-miniatures.co.uk/content/m06-x-6...

...temporarily screw a nut up to the head, saw the shank off flush with the nut, and unscrew the nut. Then glue the resulting very short bolt to the surface (so the bolt head becomes a false nut). Using the temporary nut will give you consistent exposed stud lengths.
