Kittyhawk 1/32 Texan / Harvard
Discussion
It's been a while since I've posted any of my kits, and given I'm terrible at doing pictures throughout the build (as many of the good ones here do!) I can only show you the end result of this one.
I've got quite a soft spot for the Harvard, and although this Kittyhawk kit is technically the Texan 2 variant, there's not a huge amount of difference (if any) between them. The kit was nice to build and I supplemented it with the Eduard photo-etch flaps kit, although for the price of it I'm not sure I'd bother with it again were I to build another version, but the PE pieces for the undercarriage were good as they gave some detail to what was otherwise a plain wheel bay.
The kit cockpit was fairly well detailed, but I did find a couple of inaccuracies when looking at reference pictures (such as some of the front instrument panels bending around the pilot whereas the kit here is just a flat panel), and though there was also a PE set for this but wanting to keep costs down I didn't bother with this one.
For £30 I was very happy with this kit, and there's a range of bombs, rockets and gun pods unused which can be put in the spares box. It was a little tricky to find UK suppliers for this one, the few I did find were charging around £70 for it, but I ended up gambling on a Chinese shop on eBay which sent it through within two weeks (last thing I ordered from there took months to arrive!).

Certainly was, this kit was boxed as the 'trainer' variant (despite having the sprues for the weapons), and had two A4 sheets of decals to cover a variety of US, Canadian, SAAF, UK and Luftwaffe schemes. There is another version of this kit with different box art which is aimed at the attack variant, although I suspect the only difference between that and mine is the decals again.
Thanks; I do like the canopy, it was the first time I've used specific masks rather than just cutting Tamiya tape, it certainly made a difference as there was no paint bleed under the tape I normally get.
The Hobby Zone organisers are really good, although the website I bought them off didn't state what make they are so now I know what brand they are I'll be able to get more as I think I bought the last of them. I've got the paint stand as well which is good quality.

Lovely, big soft spot for yellow Harvards as my father moved onto them after soloing on Tiger Moths. We have some air to air pics somewhere he took on a couple of training flights. If he were still with us he would point out he’d not have left the flaps down though - that would have got him a charge. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

A chap I know does all sorts of drawers and stands for modelling, I think he even does one offs for specific needs. The Hobby Zone organisers are really good, although the website I bought them off didn't state what make they are so now I know what brand they are I'll be able to get more as I think I bought the last of them.
