It's back this Friday at 8pm, couldn't find the old thread (I'm sure there was one).

As before, if you didn't see it, teams compete to build a themed model railway.

Last series - https://www.channel5.com/show/the-great-model-rail...

Looking forward to this, the railway team at work have been supplying them with scenic items! The lady Judge- Kathy Millat- has got an interesting blog, worth a read.

In the last series they focused more on team drama/ squabbling than the actual models! I hope it's better this time.

Gave it a miss last time as TV treatment always concentrates on false jeopardy - otherwise the punters won't watch (so the TV people think).

I'll echo Eric & Mercury above, watched one programme and never went back

As a teenager, I built many types of models and gradually started to get serious about detailing, weathering and accuracy. Then got distracted by another interest...women! I still look on Pistonheads and other forums at models of car, planes, trains and ships. Great admiration for the skill and dedication but I no longer have either the passion or patience to spend on it.

Watched a couple of these TV programmes but they are something of a caricature jokey version and not something targeting the serious model maker. Not my cup of tea and entertainment level for me was low. If you are easily amused OK but it doesn't hit the spot for me personally.

Watched the first series when it was (briefly) available on YT. As others have said it’s not really serious modelling, and some of the results were decidedly amateur. Plus wasn’t it that bellend Tim Shaw presenting?

Speaking of bellends, the leader of the winning team last night!

One of the team weren't experienced modellers, set of bio scientists, most just started two months ago. Amazingly close result at the end, reckon if they had increased the extent of their limited train track, and not had an unintentional derailment in addition to their later completely planned and executed derailment complete with attending ambulance they might have swung it.

Tim Shaw not too annoying, unlike Car SOS.

Final points were 20, 19, 19. Too much emphasis on build and special effects. The newcomers only had 1 single carriage commuter running and as you say it unintentionally derailed once.

Could helping laughing at the camel-toe comment - then had to explain it to the wife.

Long enough to grow pigtails and that's about it, I reckon.
