Can anyone recommend a beginners book for painting?
Discussion
I've just taken delivery of a Tamiya Caterham. I''ve built quite a few RC cars but this is my first step into scale models and whilst I'm confident in screwing things together I'm a complete novice with regard paint. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good beginners books that covers details of painting? I don't have an airbrush so am hoping to do the majority with brushes, and maybe spray cans for larger areas. I guess youtube links would also suffice!
Any suggestions much appreciated!

Good luck with your build.
The youtube link below to scalemodeller.com has many sections of great tutorials you should watch and theyre not boring either. This chap is a highly skilled model builder especially when it comes to paint. Also has his website to view on steps you may want to concentrate on.
Will save you a lot of time in reading then trying to remember what you read and possibly getting it wrong.

YouTube really has replaced most books as the best way to learn and be shown techniques these days.
This my list of YouTube experts I always recommend:
Flory Models
Andy's Hobby Headquarters
Night Shift
Panzermeister36
AK Interactive
Ammo by MIG
Plasmo
Sergio Solo
Scalemodelmedic
Turbine models
You may need to do your own searches those for brush specific tutorials.
If you are brushing though, it really is a matter of choosing paints that are easy to brush and learning to thin the paint.
Brushing is a skill in itself to get a good finish, and takes a lot of practice. If you are serious about scale modelling as an ongoing hobby and you are spending a fair amount of money, it may be worth getting one of the AS186 airbrush starter bundles on amazon/ebay. It massively improves the speed and quality of painting, especially small bits like on cars, and especially bodywork.
Remember though modelling is a craft where you adjust, fettle and create almost a piece of art. So expect some sanding and check the fit of everything before you glue. Oh and definitely buy some Tamiya Extra Thin glue. It is a MUST have especially for the fine work of putting a car together. Do not use tube glue.
