Well my 1/24 MTB had its first test launch last weekend in its complete form. Unfortunately there was some blanket weed on the boating lake, it ran into a small patch and after trying to reverse out it lost way and then refused to move in either direction. Thinking an RC failure, I waded out and found - no prop! Much paddling about failed to find it.

Props are cheap to replace - except that mine is BA and all the ones I can find online are metric. Can't change the shaft.

Is it possible to buy BA props, or perhaps to get an adaptor to the next largest metric size up? A 3-blade brass one would be ideal as it would look more scale than the black plastic 2-blade that was on it, but I may not have the luxury of choice.

Thanks for any ideas!

Run a BA Tap through a metric prop and hope for the best?

Drill out a metric prop and use a BA Helicoil insert?

Thanks dr_gn, I have some BA taps so would just need to find a prop with metric thread smaller.

How best to make sure it doesn't come off again? A grubscrew in the side?

Have you tried talking to the Prop Shop.
It was just on Google and they seem to keep most of their stock as raw castings and prepare them as needed. I would have though they could machine exactly the thread you need onto whatever prop you want.

Is there any benefit in having a slipper clutch to save losing another propellor? You could set it fairly tight but lose enough to slip if the propellor fouls.

Just wanted to say that a super hand-crafted 3-blade prop arrived today from the Prop Shop https://www.prop-shop.co.uk/

About £12 inc postage and retaining grubscrew which I think is very fair for a handmade item.

Not the best website for browsing products but the owner Simon is knowledgeable and efficient - highly recommended. Thank you the Jackal for mentioning him!
