My daughter (6) & I are going to build a car in the summer holidays.

Other than the usual tamiya stuff are there any other alternatives anyone could recommend?

I am thinking the Tamiya madbull or something along those lines. Nothing to fast & with spare parts readily available.

If your daughter is “helping” (translation you want an RC car and she’s the excuse). Why not let her choose? You can give her a selection and let her pick one, that way she will feel a bit more involved.

Make no mistake, it’s as much for my enjoyment as hers! However, I want something she can use & is the most user friendly for her age.

I have raced 1/10 scale previously & would love the kids to get into it so they’re not just glued to iPads etc.

She has picked the holiday buggy because you can see the driver sat in it.

I think you are overestimating the joy of building such a basic kit like a Tamiya kit.
Your 6 year old isnt really going to be doing the building.
Buy a RTR have fun straight away. After getting it dirty/breaking it, you will need to rebuild it anyway.
Go for some thing in the FTX range, a lot more bang for your buck and cheap and plentiful spares.
A buggy for speed or the Kanyon for off road fun at a more gentle pace.

Recently got an FTX Comet for my lad (8), perfect for him, not too quick but great fun and incredible value for money. Full spares support and some hop-ups available if desired later including a brushless setup. It can be purchased in a range of styles (Buggy, Truggy, Monster Truck etc.).
