Where to get 1:18 model of my car
Discussion
Does anyone know where I can get a 1:18 scale model of my car?
It's nothing special, just a 2014 C1 but I want to have a collection of every car I have owned over the course of my life in the exact spec of the full-size car.
I'm only 19 and owned one car so far but that's the plan at least! Good to plan ahead
So, where can I get one? There seems to be loads of 1:43 but that's not big enough, I want detail. I also can't afford for it to be silly money!
Shameless picture of the car, just because!

I’d add this, with the caveat that it’s all a matter of personal taste.....
At the higher end, 1/18 scale model cars can be works of art. But at the lower end, they can be very toy-like. On the whole, 1/43 tend to look more accurate and offer a wider choice of vehicles and colours. Also, in thirty years time, will you really want 20-odd 1/18 scale cars on display? And will your partner? I’d strongly recommend going for the smaller scale.

I didn't find anything on Google either, hence asking here. Shame really, looks like I'll be going smaller scale...
If I do have to respray it, how does that get done?
Fair point with the size of them in X years time, although I probably won't have that many cars in total and I don't planning on getting married (and I despise children). Sure I might have a girlfriend but that is probably it. Although, yeah, see your point. Easier to store smaller ones.

either that or do you really want this to be a collection to be proud of
if you really dont mind spending a few hundred pounds or more (quite possibly a lot more i'm not clued up on these things that well) get a modelmaker to build you an exact model of each and every car you own.
its a small amount when you consider how often most people change cars and would give you a fantastically interesting collection in years to come.
quick google bring these guys up

no idea of price but look decent

Great idea of collecting cars you've owned and Shermonator you're doing the right thing starting earlyI too would advise on 1 43 scale, much more choice of models and the level of detail is similar with the different manufacturers ie Minichamps, IXO, HPI, Ebbro etc so less visible when collecting across different manufacturers
I started out collecting 1.18 scale of racing cars I'd worked on as each Christmas the race team's I worked for would give everyone a 1.18 scale model.
I've since changed to collecting 1 43 scale as I don't have a wall big enough to display +100 cars
Hi,
I thought I would throw this one in the mix, there is a company who make copper wire models of pretty much anything.
The company is called friendly skies ltd, Graham is the owner, he mainly deals with aviation models, i found him at the London Classic car show where he was displaying some fantastic automobile models in 1/18 scale, the models are made from copper wire welded to form the model, it's then framed vertically in a 45 degree mirrored case that projects the model sp ypu aee it in plan and elevation, an amazing illusion.
I purchased a limited edition model of Concorde which is quite frankly a master piece in terms of creativity and craftsmanship.
The models don't come cheap but you get what you pay for, for anyone interested do a search for the company, not much on the website but if you speak to Graham he will be able to provide pics of models he has done.
