A question for the RC gurus on here. I have a project which needs me to be able to rotate something very quickly and with reasonable precision. It doesn't have to weigh much and I think an RC servo will do the job. The quickest servos I seem to be able to find are 0.04 seconds/60 degrees. Do faster ones exist?

I thought maybe a sail servo but the first 2 I found seem slightly slower.... If my maths is right.

0.04/60 is really quick, I've not heard of anything quicker than that in the RC world.

Can you not combine a servo with a gear to give greater rotation at lower torque?

Thanks for looking. The winners at the moment seem to be high end helicopter tail servos.

Savox do some pretty quick ones, e.g. SB2272MG - High Voltage Brushless Digital Gyro Servo .032/97.2 @ 7.4V

Yes heli servos are the fastest but not the strongest.
You can have strong or fast, both I would imagine are really expensive.

Use ODrive and size a brushless motor to get the speed you need

Is this device just rotating to a fixed position and then back again?
If so, a solenoid, lever and return spring may be faster..

Yes, Odrive looks interesting. I might order one to play with.

One position and back again. The other alternative, as you say, is basically a solenoid - I've been looking at voice coil actuators. I've ordered a servo which I'll try first as it's relatively cheap.
