Good Morning.

I have finally got around to sorting out all of my old RC cars and equipment. Most of it dates from the 80s / 90s. After an afternoon i realised that most of it is absolute rubbish. 15+ years of being stored has not treated the electronics well.

What i did find was two Mardave Marauders and an original spares catalog and price list. I have a few zip lock bags of what i think are Mardave spares but i am only saying this because they were in the Mardave box and 1 bad contains the roll bar / handle that looks like a mardave item.

Does anyone care about Mardave stuff anymore? I had a quick look on ebay but there is hardly anything on there. So in my mind they are either worthless (most likely) or rare as rocking horse poo.

Is there any Mardave love anymore?

I did a search for Mardave stuff a while back, and like you I found there wasn't much interest unfortunately. I worked in a model shop when I was young and remember selling Mardave stuff; although I was more into planes I did race Mardave Minis at a purpose built indoor track behind the model shop. Great fun, especially as you weren't allowed to modify the cars in any way. Happy days!

I remember them fondly but couldn't afford to buy one when I was young, unfortunately.

Worth sticking the lot on ebay just in case they are useful to someone, it would be a shame to bin them!

Ah this brings back memories! I had a Marauder way back and have mixed memories of it. When it went, it went like stink. However, the turning circle was appaling and it ended up crashing more often than not. It also came with the most terrible foam tyres which just span on the hubs at the faintest whiff of throttle. I did end up getting some rubber studded ones as shown in the OP's photo, which worked better. However, the axle ended up spinning in the hub instead. All in all, not a great experience. Even less so when I came from a Tamiya FAV to this. You can see why Mardave struggled in comparison sadly.

Mardave as a company, still exists, although they don't make buggies anymore.

There is a growing following for 'vintage' RC cars in general, and Mardave is one of those brands that us Brits in the hobby get nostalgic about. However, I think what drives the interest in the vintage side of the hobby, is us middle-aged blokes wanting to buy the cars we always dreamed about as kids. With Mardave being one of the most affordable brands at the time, they were attainable then and so not so desirable now.

If you put them on Ebay with no reserve, they will definitely sell, but unfortunately don't expect to get a decent amount for them.

Was into RC cars about 40 years ago and used to race them at a school in Renfrew Glasgow had a great following and Mardave were the kits most ran If my memory serves me I bought them from a company in Blackpool .
Many years later came back into the sport and in was now all Koyosho and Tamya that seemed to be the flavour .

The thing is , i now live in Germany so the postage to any UK ebay winners would not be cheap. It would be a shame to just bin them though so i guess ill create a listing and see if anyone wants them enough to pay the postage.

I had a Mardave Meteor (the electric 1/10 buggy) and that sold quite well on ebay last year.
It did include a brown Futaba Attack transmitter though. biggrin
