Unusual one on the bench this time... requested by my tattoo artist, probably in exchange for some seat time. Can't hope for a 1:1 exchange, but I already have a full day (paid) booked in.

He wanted a pirate ship - I found this version on the net, but the instructions are vague at best.

26 pages of A4, but a lot of those are sails and rigging, I've some decent thread for the rigging, will look way better than card.

The usual spine, similar to an HMV build

Add the sides

Im in the process of reskinning some of the sides as i loaded the paper into the printer backwards...

And there are two options for detail level, with or without cutouts

I'm obviously doing the extra detail.

I've done one mast but no pics yet, from the one Japanese build thread I've seen, it's way easier to mount the masts before the deck.

I've a lot of dead time at work next week so should make progress.

The 'patchy' looking bits have all already been covered... The office printer has a very good line in _very_ thin paper to be stuck onto the card to mask any printing aberrations.

No pictures yet but also completed the captain's cabin at the stern with all its buttressing

Good luck with that one! Not seen many sailing ships in paper. Could you use crumpled up and flatted tissue paper for the sails I wonder, or would they look better flat?

I'm going to try the sails in office paper first. I suspect the 'thin card' will be too stiff to get a nice shape

Minor progress this morning due to being short straw in the office.

Not entirely happy with the masts, I hate the rolling technique, I always end up thicker than intended, and the finish can crack.
I've reskinned them with thin paper but they're not perfect.
Putting the deck on has pulled in a slight warp at the stern. Rails are slightly wobbly due to being thin. Will straighten and stiffed towards the end

It's starting to look like a boat, just all the greebles to add

Oh and the sails and rigging.

Terrible photo (had to use work phone and was on a conf. Call so didn't have time to get a clear shot)

Greebles continue to be constructed for the deck. Placing these before attaching the sails/rigging was definitely a good idea.

Not 100% happy with the hull so it may come off and go back on...

4 more cannon to do, and some more bloody railings... then on to sails/rigging. :-o

You'd think with a wooden leg, they'd have been averse to bloody stairs...
Part 49 is less than 2 inches across, but was probably an hour's scalpelling

More greebling continues. These are platforms which sit outside the hull and rigging will be attached.

Oh and a 10 peice anchor..

Limited progress, work has been busy...

But, it's getting there. I didn't like the paper rigging, so I'm using some darning thread I still off the missus.
If this was for me, the skin on the hull would be off and replaced, but the guy I'm making for is more than happy.

Still some rigging to go, including the rope trellises on either side. Not sure how to approach them yet.
