48hr Group build
After the idea got mooted whos actually in for a group build?
I think the idea was £10 kits, 48 hour build out of the box (ish).
When do we start? Seeing as getting the same 48 hr window for everyone ill never happen, how about 48hrs within 2 weeks window?
I've now got one of the Airfix Gnats from Lidl for £5. I now have added to that. I doubt I'll get them both done.
I too have a Gnat on the way. For reasons of nostalgia, it’s an original blister pack from the ‘70s, purchased from eBay. I’ll exlain the “why?” when we post the build pics. It’ll be the first plastic kit that I’ll have built since the early ‘80s! 4321go
Rules copied from the other thread (if everyone agrees)
As a starter for 10, the rules could be:
No airbrushing, but rattle can primers might be OK.
...and out-of-box could be as defined by my local IPMS show competition which is:
“Out-of-the-box” entries should be built from the contents of a commercially available kit (of any substance). Access doors, hatches and canopies may be opened. The only additions to the kit contents permitted will be aerials, pitot tubes, wires and fabric items such as seat-belts, tilts and tarpaulins and so on.
Basic additions such as glazing or whatever is fine, so long as it doesn't massively deviate from what's in the box.
[a participant writes] Will we be having one thread for all builds, or are we starting our own build threads? I much prefer the former and am ready to go with the 'unboxing'. Or, in my case, 'de-bagging'.
Lidl doesn't do any Airfix promo stuff in the Netherlands. Gruffgriff started with the suggestion for a Fokker, which I will gladly follow. The D21 is coming from the dusts. I will kick off after coming Sunday. Will this apply to the contest?
I don't see why not!
There aren’t any time constraints as to when you can start. The more people taking part the better, so if you don’t want to start for a month that’s fine.
Doesn’t have to be Airfix either - any kit that’s reasonably old/simple/cheap will do. Matchbox tick most of those boxes, their AFV’s were great especially with the diorama bases they included.
Hobbycraft currently have a half price deal on revell kits. The simple Star Wars kits are £3 and are perfect for beginners.
