P-51D (Early version) 1:32 scale by Revell

Thought I’d have a crack at this newish revell kit after I saw it on amazon for £26.
Crack value when you consider the undoubtedly superior kits from the usual suspects are four times the price. The rationale is it gives a bit of scope for aftermarket parts without busting the bank.
As usual here’s the box art, sprues, decals and instructions

The first aftermarket purchases were a set of masks and this.
Harnesses and replacement instrument panel for £7. My only complaint: the two smaller panels are slightly out of register. It won’t detract from the build though.
As usual the build starts with the cockpit. The kit goes together much like the airfix 1/72, just bigger and with more parts.

What aren’t you happy with? It looks great. Did notice some wing panel line demarcations look different, but that could be grain in the photo.
Mistakes on my part. I assumed it would go together without issue. There were a few fit issues that I’d have caught if I’d done a bit more trial fitting. This has lead to a sloppy finish. It’s okay, but I don’t think it’s a true representation of my best.
Still it’s a good learning experience.
That looks really good, I made hundreds of kits when young and before girls......always fancied going back to making a few after recently seeing some of the build magazines available, but I know for a fact now my models would come out looking like a crash landing site......essential tremor they call it, it’s even stopped me doing most of my railway modelling, not playing but building the locos etc. Thank heaven O gauge is now proliferating in RTR models.
Once again.....inspiring work there
