Jaguar XK120 chassis swap - Corgi model
Discussion
Corgi made a limited edition set of the three winners of the Team Prize in the 1953 RAC Rally. They came as a boxed set, just 5,000 were made.
But the Corgi set gave LOE 3 wire wheels and red upholstery.
LOE 3 had disc wheels and green upholstery.
So I bought a model of LOE 3 and a Corgi Classic Model of an XK120 that had disc wheels and green trim off Ebay. I took them apart & swapped the chassis and seats. I also removed the soft top
All three cars are still about, LOE 3 is now owned by Racing Green cars in Farnborough.
Corgi Set
At Goodwood RAC Rally 1953
At Hastings RAC Rally 1953
At Goodwood 2005. Note the extra horn button for the navigator. NUB 120 also has a navigator horn button in a similar place.
