I have just bought this https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/tamiya-lunch-bo... wasn't exactly what I had in mind for this evening smile but got a bit carried away after watching some YouTube videos. I had meant to just be buying some stuff to get one of my existing cars back on the road.

Russy, bought a hornet from you a while ago, just saw that you have the Boomerang in stock- always wanted this as a kid but was over budget at the time.

Do you offer a premium pack with this? Asking as I couldn't see It on the website.

What are your thoughts on the boomerang vs hotshot?

Thanks

Tamiya recommends the short CVA set (this is the Lunch Box Hop-Up list on the Tamiya USA site):

https://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rcpss.php?comman...

I used black ones on mine, a bit easier to get hold of:

https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=...

The installation is shown on page 17 of the manual:

https://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/manuals/58347ml.pdf

Enjoy it - you'll have great fun!

Sorry to thread hijack but in the same theme, ish; i dug out my old Tamiya Monster Beetle a little while back which i built when i was 10 (25years ago)... now, back then i upgraded it with a too-powerful motor and stripped the gearbox... i'd love to return it to it's former glory (and upgrade where poss too). Where does one start?

Strip it down, take a look what's broken then consult the manual:

https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/radio-control-kits...

All parts should be available as the MB was reissued in 2015 and is still for sale. Experts here will be able to tell you if the gearbox is still the same or if you can upgrade with better new parts.

The lunchbox is awesome. However, one thing I struggle with are the hubs spinning inside the tyres on launch. Any ideas how to rectify this?

I want one...

How fast do they go?

How long will the batteries last?

Thanks

Glue the tyres to the rims using CA

GoIng to add one more thing as it's an opp to resurface 30 year old experience/knowledge from the old grey matter.

If this kit came with standard plastic bushes for the gearbox (and I'm guessing it did) then check if these had worn oval. Or an easier way to tell is if the gear teeth have uneven wear - ie some teeth seemingly untouched but others fully worn on the opposite side of the gear. If so you should upgrade to proper bearings when doing the repair, otherwise same thing will keep happening, as I learnt when upgrading my standard 540 to a Technigold back in the day.

Right, I'm off shopping (still can't decide whether to rebuild a retro kit or try going for one of the latest Schumacher off-road kits which look truly amazing)

Which one would you go for? I've recently purchased a Couger KR and a Cat K2 (just been replaced by the L1).

Great fun, Cat especially as it's 4WD and actually controllable!

I've got a Cougar KR...used it once, in a shakedown session up and down my drive...d'oh!

Going to have a proper off road blast asap, especially now the sun is shining.

How do you find yours?

The Cougar is mad, I think I've got a 4200kv motor in it, on 3S power it'll wheelie for England. The Cat, although probably faster is much more docile and controllable with a 5600kv motor and 2S battery.

I'm planning on taking them to a track (probably Nene Valley Raceway) soon, once I've plucked up the courage....

Was thinking the K2 as my last RC car was a CAT XLS in 88 - the one with the silver wheels. Still have it on a shelf at home.

Will need to take a look at the L1 as only had a quick glance and was wondering where it slotted in v the K2

Having looked at the downloads, the quality of the instructions has come on a long way in 30 years..!
