I've just been reading dr_gn's excellent Tiger Moth build thread, in which he mentions casting a copy of some parts he made, in resin.

I would like to look into resin casting as a method of first copying existing parts for my own use, and possibly original parts for sale. Does anyone have any pointers, such as what products to use, where to get them, possible pitfalls, etc?

I’m doing a more complicated cast (duplicating injection moulded parts) for my robot build here:

I got this kit:

There’s a video on the link showing the basics, it’s not really that difficult, but gets messy. In addition to the kit, I got some surgical gloves and some 5mm syringes with luer-lock tubes to measure catalyst and inject resin. Oh - and get some goggles if you don’t have some already.

Something I'd like to try too. I fancy a production line of teardrop DF fairings - as they are always something you can make use of.

I've been doing some messing about with moulds for car bits, things like the plastic "gasket" that sits between mirror and door, with some reasonable success, though the 2-part mould for a larger rubber piece was causing me some problems. I was using a syringe to inject casting rubber into the mould and one of the people I talked to suggested that might be causing some of the air bubbles I was getting, though I think it's now more to do with a lack of suitable release agent.

I haven't done much since last year, because the temperature in the shed is too low for anything to set properly, but it's coming back up again now.
