I am toying with the idea of getting one of these and just wondered. if anyone had one? Are they worth it? DJI have just released the Mavick Air which is like a better version of the Spark but its £769!

Don't know whether to get the Spark or to go for the Mavik Air. £769 is a bit steep.

Based on the fact DJI know what they are doing (GoPro clearly didn't) the new software will be better to use and more reliable.
I thought the spark was about 700+ once you factored in batteries and a controller.
If I had nearly a grand flying around in the air I'd want the best/safest software.
Unless they reduce the Spark to 2-300 I'd go with the new one.
Obviously after a month or two though, just in case there are any teething problems

Yup, I've got a Spark (well actually I've got two!)

I ended up crashing one just before I was going on holiday and needed a new one ASAP so bought a second, the first went back to DJI under their care refresh programme so that's spare, I've been meaning to sell it actually.

It's a great little drone, I was looking at a Mavic for the 4K but the size albeit small put me off, the spark you can fly pretty much anywhere without annoying anyone, although there are laws and no flight zones.

There are a few forums and FB pages which offer help, but as ever they're usually littered with people having issues so it can put you off.

The only downside is the flight time is limited to around 16 minutes due to the battery, thus I've got several batteries so that issue goes away.

What else do you need to know?

Thank you for your replies especially FreakUK. I have £430 worth of Modelsport vouchers burning a whole in my pocket so that's why I was asking really. Its my birthday in April so not sure whether to ask for some more and get the Mavic Air or just get the Spark now.

The flight time of the Spark puts me off a bit as does the fact that the controller is another £159 making the Spark £610 which is getting close to the Mavik Air which comes with the controller and propeller guards.

If you buy the fly more combo you get prop guards, controller, spare battery, charging station and a 16gb microsd card.

Or you could buy a cheap spark ;-) and use your vouchers to buy a controller and spare batteries....

The Fly More Combo is around £500.

I like mine a lot. Good balance of price and capability. The size is great though they are noisy. And the footage is superb (4k or not).

Fly more comes with 2x batteries which whilst not replacing longer flight time does mitigate it to an extent. Also comes with the controller.

Am not convinced the Mavic Air is worth over 50% more, certainly not for a novice.

Just to let you know that spookily someone had a brand new Spark Fly Combo for sale at work for £499 so I bought that. Picked it up today and will have a play around with it over the weekend weather permitting.

Thanks for all your comments.
